Fun and Edgy Childrenswear Trends

One of the fun parts about being a parent is picking all those cute little outfits that children wear and everyone who sees them just ‘ooos and awwws.’ Of course sometimes it’s not so much fun for the tyke that gets his cheeks pinched by every grandmother who sees him. But that’s the price you pay for cuteness, little guy. Anyway, let’s take a look at some of those cheek-pinching, fun and edgy childrenswear trends that make you wish you had ten more like the one you’re now holding. Well, maybe we won’t go that far, but those outfits sure are cute.

Overalls with Back Details
If you are thinking of those traditional overalls with the crisscross straps on the back that button to the front, those went out decades ago! Today’s denim overalls have amazing backs that only expose a bit of skin so they can be worn with or without shirts as only a bit of flesh shows on your child’s back, close to the waistline and another bit at the shoulders. Some have neat designs embroidered along the edging and others are simply a semi-closed back but they are just too cute.

Ride ‘Em Cowboy
As long as we’re talking about denim overalls, why not look at some fun and edgy toddler western wear. Vests for little people are still in style and they don’t only come in suede, contrary to popular belief about western wear vests. There was a time when it wasn’t cool to dress country, but the trend is back and more popular than ever. They make everything western for toddlers complete down to boots and of course cowboy hats – but not the play kind!

They are the real deal, and something you’ll want to keep in the memory box for loads of laughs in later years. One thing you may want to be a bit cautious of is a bolo tie. These leather strap neckties are totally western, but totally dangerous when it comes to anyone under the age of 5 or 6. Many parents forego the traditional western bolo and instead use a bandana tied at the neck as it is far safer and just as cute.

Fun Fur and Animal Prints
All those cheetah and leopard prints are not just for mom, little one! Now there is a whole line of childrenswear that is fashioned from faux fur and/or animal prints. This tribal appeal is totally in with teens and tweens and now it has made its way into the younger than young crowd, the toddler set. Vests, coats, scarves, shirts, skirts, pants, leggings, knee-socks, you name it. Animal prints of all kinds have made their way into toddler fashion and if that isn’t fun and edgy, nothing is!

Many of today’s toddler fashions are being billed as ‘stuff mom would like to wear too,’ and once you see the amazing style that children’s clothing designers have come up with, you probably will want an outfit just like that. From Country Western to ultra-chick fashions, toddlers have toddled their way onto the runway. Fun and edgy childrenswear is a great way to introduce your child to the world of fashion. Have fun now because they are only little once.
